Abstract The aim of this article was to report surgical and medical management, evaluate complications outcome dogs treated for refractory infection after tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) with a one-stage revision surgery consisting implant removal replacement TTA cage. It retrospective case series. Seven cases were included in study. Loss the or crest fractures did not occur any case. One-stage successful 5/7 (71%) good long-term outcomes. Persistent resulted replaced new cage 2/7 (29%), which one associated septic arthritis caused by multi-resistant bacteria. immediate successfully prevented loss short Further studies investigating possible improvements treatment protocol are warranted.

Theoretical discrepancy between cage size and efficient tibial tuberosity advancement in dogs treated for cranial cruciate ligament rupture.

OBJECTIVES To calculate the difference between the desired tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) along the tibial plateau axis and the advancement truly achieved in that direction when cage size has been determined using the method of Montavon and colleagues. To measure the effect of this difference on the final patellar tendon-tibial plateau angle (PTA) in relation to the ideal 90°. METHODS Tr...

Radiographic changes of the patellar ligament in dogs after tibial tuberosity advancement

Patellar desmopathy in dogs after tibial plateau levelling osteotomy has been described in many studies. Tibial tuberosity advancement is a biomechanically different technique. It is assumed that the patellar ligament is loaded with little force similarly as after tibial plateau levelling osteotomy. Various aspects related to secondary patellar desmopathy are not completely understood. This stu...

Tibial tuberosity advancement in 65 canine stifles.

The tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) procedure was developed to treat dogs with cranial cruciate ligament deficient stifles. A retrospective, descriptive study was performed on 57 dogs that underwent unilateral or bilateral TTA. Medical records were reviewed and pre-, postoperative and follow-up radiographs were evaluated for patellar ligament-tibial plateau angle (alpha), distance of the ti...
